UiPath research finds UK retailers reacting too late to protect the margin - but the fix isn't more AI
Two thirds of UK retailers – 69% – say they only react to operational issues after those issues have already hit commercial performance. Nearly all of them – 97% – still expect to hit their commercial targets this Golden Quarter. Both figures come from the same 500 retail leaders in the same research.
That research is The Reaction Gap, new work from UiPath surveying technology, data and ecommerce leaders across UK retail. It was conducted in June 2026 ahead of the Golden Quarter – the Black Friday to Christmas trading period that delivers a disproportionate share of annual retail profit.
46% of respondents describe themselves as very confident of hitting their Golden Quarter targets, and another 35% say they’re extremely confident.
