Trump tells Axios that Jay Clayton would make a good AI czar
President Donald Trump has said that Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton would make a good AI czar, Axios reported on Tuesday. Trump has said he wants to name a czar within three or four days.
Maria Curi of Axios asked Trump who he wanted for the role. He said he had someone in mind. When Clayton’s name came up, Trump praised him.
“A good man. He’s right here. That’s a good idea,” Trump told Axios.
Trump made that pledge after Tuesday’s White House lunch with tech leaders. Clayton was one of the 31 confirmed guests, according to an attendee list obtained by Axios. At the lunch, six executives signed a voluntary AI accord with Trump.
