Given the raging debate around tokenomics - and lack of any real conclusions - there’s an urgent need for some form of structure to examine the topic and think about a strategic reaction that is more constructive than the CFO shouting, ‘How much?!?’ When the next bill comes in.

That’s basically the thinking behind the Tokenomics Foundation, the latest spawn of The Linux Foundation. While its early days in its inception, the basic idea is that the new body will work on establishing open industry standards, benchmarks, and best practices for the economics of AI infrastructure.

It will operate in close partnership with the existing FinOps Foundation, extending the discipline of variable technology spend into the era of token-based AI, and it was at a recent FinOps Foundation event that the case was made for the new organization to be set up as Executive Director, J.R.
