In July, the team behind PromoGoat pointed the company's own visibility tool at its own website. Founder Andreas Anastasiades expected the result to be mildly unflattering. He didn't expect Claude to describe PromoGoat — an AI marketing platform for small businesses — as "a generic project and campaign management tool."

It isn't one. But Claude isn't wrong in an interesting way: it's wrong in the default way. If a brand didn't exist when a model's training data was collected, and nothing authoritative has been written about it since, the model fills the gap with whatever the name sounds like. "Promo" plus "goat" apparently sounds like a Kanban board.
