This Smart Ventilation System Automatically Keeps the Workshop Fresh
If your workshop is anything like mine, the air is full of a nice, healthy mixture of 3D printing fumes, laser-cut MDF smoke, CNC coolant mist, and a dash of sawdust. That’s not good and most of us simply treat it is a sacrifice we have to make to do the things we love. But Michael Klements decided to actually do something about it and this smart ventilation system is the result.
The workshop Klements uses for his hobbies, like 3D printing and CNC milling, is really just a shed with metal siding. It is almost entirely uninsulated and lacks HVAC entirely. However, his big concern wasn’t thermal comfort, but rather air quality. He was interested in improving airflow to keep the air in the workshop clean and to do that, he needed a ventilation system without the outdoor dust one would get from an open window.
