This Pot Lid Turns the Steam into Electricity

In your house, there are likely only three appliances the draw so much current that they have dedicated 240V 30A+ circuits: your air conditioner, your clothes dryer, and your oven/stove. When you cook, you’re using quite a lot of energy to impart a chemical reaction in the food. Most of that energy is wasted as heat (which your air conditioner then gets to deal with). Wouldn’t it be nice if you could recover some of that? Now you can, thanks to Ross Pringle’s patented (not really) Steam Turbine Generator pot lid.

So, you know when you’re boiling water for pasta or whatever and steam just keeps spewing out of the hole in the lid? It gets your cabinets all damp. This system puts that steam to good use, generating electricity.
