This Handheld Cyberdeck Has an M4 Mac mini Inside
Cyberdecks come in just about every shape and size, but most are built around hardware like a Raspberry Pi or a small x86 single-board computer. Shing Solutions wanted a more powerful machine, so he went in a different direction. His latest handheld computer has an Apple M4 Mac mini at its core, along with a touchscreen, keyboard, game controllers, and enough battery power to run for hours.
Of course, cramming all of that hardware into something you can hold took a bit of effort. Shing Solutions started by stripping the Mac mini down to its motherboard, but kept the original heatsink and blower fan. While replacing those components could have made the computer thinner, keeping Apple's cooling system ensures that the M4 can handle heavy workloads without thermal throttling.
