This Giant ATmega Chip Won’t Run Code, But It Will Charge Your Phone

Those who cut their teeth on Arduino boards when they were first learning about embedded electronics will always have a special place in their hearts for ATmega chips. YouTuber Nick Electronics certainly does. The only problem he can see with them is that they’re too small. So, Nick undid decades of advances in microchip fabrication and made a huge ATmega chip so he could fully appreciate its beauty.

Well, sort of. Nick didn’t really want a huge microcontroller that is actually a microcontroller because it wouldn’t be practical for any real-world uses. So instead, he built a wireless charger into his giant ATmega chip. That way he could appreciate the chip he loves and still get some use out of it every day.
