This Dolby Atmos soundbar from JBL may not have up-firing speakers, but it still sounds more expansive than most models I’ve tested — here’s how I’d rate it after hours of testing

Despite skipping on up-firing drivers, the JBL Bar 800MK2 plates up spectacularly expansive sound with its virtual Dolby Atmos capabilities. Its thumping bass and clear dialogue are impressive too, as are its wide connectivity options and feature-rich companion app. It isn’t the flashiest of lookers, and the sub is on the bulky side, but the ingenious detachable surround speakers almost sell this model on their own, and the system is easy to recommend now that it’s regularly discounted.
