This DIY Robot Can See and React to the World Around It

There are plenty of little desktop robots that can wave, make noises, and show cute animations, but JBR-001 is built to do a lot more. Powered by an Arduino UNO Q, the open source robot combines three servos, a camera, distance sensing, sound, and an animated display into a small platform for experimenting with robotics and computer vision. It can even run vision models that let it recognize objects sitting in front of it and respond with its own combination of movements, sounds, and animations.

The robot's body consists of 3D-printable parts that house the UNO Q and the rest of the electronics. Servos enable movement, with one rotating the head and the other two controlling the arms.
