This Cooler Company Is Putting Diamond in Its Data Center Waterblocks

Without the cost constraints of consumer systems, AI data centers can experiment with more expensive, capable cooling solutions. Frore Systems has proposed a new design with its LiquidJet Diamond waterblock, a cooling coldplate that uses real diamond in precise locations to cover chip hotspots. The developer claims this can lower hotspot temperatures by up to 10 degrees compared to traditional waterblocks.

From their perspective, the big selling point is that it increases tokens per watt by improving performance and chip efficiency. But including such an expensive material in a waterblock is intriguing and may hold potential for premium, niche consumer DIY PC use.

The claims in Frore Systems' press release seem a little hyperbolic, so we may have to take some of its performance numbers with a grain of salt. It claims a "75% higher heat transfer efficiency" and a 35% jump in tokens per watt, which only seems possible...
