These Studies Show Even One Home Security Camera Is a Deal-Breaker for Burglars
If you’re going to pay $50 to over $200 for a home security camera or video doorbell, you may be wondering if it’s worth it. I found the research that provides the statistics you’re looking for, and the difference is clear: Adding a security camera really does cut down on attempted break-ins and theft.
The best study on the subject, called “Understanding Decisions to Burglarize from the Offender’s Perspective,” was conducted by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, along with other colleges and organizations, like the Electronic Security Association, offering support. This project interviewed over 400 burglars to learn more about their habits and motives.
