Passport renewal has long occupied a particular category of adult chores: not the hardest thing you'll ever do, but reliably more annoying than it has any right to be. The State Department has finally addressed the whole frustrating business with an online renewal system that replaces every analog step with a digital one, and the result is a process that takes about as long as ordering something online.
