The unsexy layer AI agents actually need: DataBahn raises $40m to sell it
The glamorous part of AI is the models. The expensive, unglamorous part is getting them the right data. A startup just raised $40 million betting that job is the next big enterprise layer.
DataBahn, a Texas company founded in 2023, has closed a $40 million Series B led by Insight Partners, it said on Thursday. Forgepoint, GTM Capital and S3 Ventures joined. The round takes its total funding to $59 million.
DataBahn sells what it calls an “agentic data control plane.” In plain terms, it is a neutral layer between the systems that produce enterprise data and the ones that consume it, from security tools to data warehouses and, now, AI agents. Rather than shovel every log into every system, it reduces, enriches and routes only what is needed, and pulls extra context on demand.
