When Pinterest was founded, one of the messages around its purpose was that it served as “a catalog of ideas” that inspired users to “go out and do that thing”. That might still be the case but flash forward 16 years and CEO William Ready has a more AI era mission statement in mind, with the rise of agentic commerce not far from mind. He pitches Pinterest in 2026 as:
...an AI-powered shopping assistant that operates in a primarily visual manner, which is consistent with large portions of how people actually shop.
Pinterest’s credentials to back this claim up are robust, he insists:
