The Terrifying New Robot Built to Save Lives
Major technological advances in robotics are often met with two distinct responses. Some people are excited by the new possibilities the robots offer, while others worry about them taking jobs away from humans. A robot recently developed by a company called Satyress doesn’t try to hide anything — its robot was designed to take certain jobs away from people. But in this case, it’s a good thing. The robot, named Threehalves, was designed to handle dangerous jobs controlling wildfires or rescuing people from collapsed buildings where it is unsafe to send humans in.
It’s probably for the best that Threehalves isn’t meant to work closely with people. This 6 ½-foot-tall steel centaur wielding a chainsaw is pure nightmare fuel.
