A concert may still end with an artist standing on a physical stage, but much of the work that gets the audience into the venue now happens inside digital systems.

Before a ticket is scanned at the entrance, data may have been used to select the market, estimate demand, choose a venue, set ticket categories, allocate advertising budgets and monitor sales. Ticketing platforms process payments and inventory. Marketing systems track campaigns. Access-control technology validates thousands of tickets within a short period of time.
