Between 2018 and the onset of the pandemic, I spent a substantial portion of my waking life standing on conference stages in front of thousands of tech founders, telling them they were killing themselves.
I did not do it to be dramatic. I did it because in 2018 alone, eleven people in my immediate professional circle took their own lives. These were brilliant, obsessive software founders who had bought into the Silicon Valley catechism: sleep four hours, raise another round, outhustle the competition, and celebrate your eighty-hour workweek like a combat medal.
