In the middle of last month, the US Government imposed export controls on Anthropic’s Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models, citing national security concerns and requiring Anthropic not to provide the tech to non-US citizens. The company was then forced to announce a global suspension of the models while it tried to find some resolution with a government with which it was already at war due to its refusal to bend over contractual ethical usage red lines.
But peace broke out earlier this week as Anthropic announced:
Fable 5 will be available...to users globally on the Claude Platform, Claude.ai, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork. For Pro, Max, Team, and select Enterprise plans,1 Fable 5 will be included for up to 50% of weekly usage limits through July 7, after which it will be available via usage credits.
