The iPhone's Battery Design Could Help Smaller Android Batteries Reach 10,000mAh
Android phone makers may soon test a new route to much larger batteries in premium devices. Per a Weibo message spotted by Android Authority, prominent leaker Digital Chat Station says an unnamed Chinese manufacturer is experimenting with a rigid steel battery case and stacked-cell construction. The company wants to achieve battery capacities of 9,000mAh to 10,000mAh in their future flagships.
Smartphone batteries currently use soft foil-pouch packaging. Because foil pouches swell slightly during charging, discharging, and aging, phone designers must leave empty clearance space inside the phone to prevent the battery from swelling against other components, which means a phone could be even thinner, more handy, and lighter.
