Vermont-based Grapple Control Systems is looking to make hardware debugging a little easier — and less likely to go wrong, thanks to a design that the firm says "keeps the magic smoke where it belongs."

"Before we made Grapple Probe we were working on another project, a 24V stepper driver, and plugged the power in wrong," company co-founder Seth Pierson explains by way of background to the device. "This sudden burst of power overwhelmed the debugger and a breadboarded project, destroying everything. Grapple Probe is everything we wanted in an affordable probe, designed to save creators from their mistakes. It has isolation to prevent ground loops, a high quality case so you can take it anywhere, and standard, easy to use connectors."
