Much has been written about storing unopened wine — including by us. Most uncorked wine does best in a cool, dry spot away from light. If you don’t have a wine fridge, aim for somewhere that remains between 50 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit, with minimal vibration and as little temperature fluctuation as possible.

But what about open wine?

White, orange, rosé and sparkling go in the fridge, but a popped bottle of red wine isn’t so obvious. Many default to the counter, cupboard or back on the rack, and while those aren’t the worst places to store wine, they’re not the best.
