The AI-readiness gap - it's thing, confirms HCLTech, and here's how enterprises can cross it
In order for AI to move from being a technology initiative to becoming an enterprise operating reality, organizations themselves need to change. HCLTech commissioned research to quantify the AI-readiness gap between pilot and production use of gen AI and agentic AI. It discovered that what leaders are grappling with now is not whether AI can deliver value, but how organizations adapt their structures, decision rights and risk tolerance to keep pace with it.
The data collected by the report indicates that there is a fraught dynamic playing out between IT departments and business teams and that this dynamic is fuelling the growth of shadow AI tools. For example, 62% of respondents agreed that business leaders in their organization are frustrated by the perceived sluggishness of IT departments in delivering high-profile AI projects.
