Air fryers are fast, forgiving and easy to use. As infallible as these speedy countertop ovens seem, a few easy-to-make mistakes can lead to soggy, burnt or unevenly cooked food.

Air fryers don’t have a steep learning curve, and you can make hundreds of stovetop or oven recipes in them. Still, there are pitfalls to consider when firing up the air fryer.
