The skills crisis is seemingly eternal, but has once again come to the fore as part of the AI hype cycle, with survey after survey earnestly declaring that there’s a need to get workforces trained up on the necessary qualifications to survive the rise of the bots. At the same time, usually in the same surveys, employees complain that their organizations are not doing enough around formal learning and training to meet this need.

Against that backdrop, it’s interesting to look at the comments from two leading learning companies, Pearson and Duolingo, about their response to AI, both as an enabler for their own work and as a lucrative growth opportunity for revenue.
