SpaceX is hiring a natural gas trader. The company wants someone to build and lead a trading team for its own fuel and power needs, according to Bloomberg. Julian Hast, who covers US gas markets from Houston, spotted the job on Friday.
The role “focuses on physical and financial natural gas trading”, the posting says.
Where the job is
The posting puts the role in Cape Canaveral, Florida, or Starbase, Texas.
Neither is a gas-trading town. The business runs out of Houston, Calgary and Stamford, Connecticut, and SpaceX is hiring in none of them.
Remote work will not be considered, the posting says. Whoever takes it will sit next to the rockets or next to the fab.
Cape Canaveral is SpaceX’s Florida launch site. The Texas option puts the trader in the same state as the chip plant the gas is meant to power.
