Some Google Pixel owners say September update is locking them out of their phones

What we know so far: A growing number of Pixel owners say the September 2026 update has left them unable to unlock their phones, even when they enter the correct PIN or pattern. The problem appears to be in the lock screen itself. Some users say their pattern resets after they connect one or two dots, making it impossible to finish the gesture. Others report that the phone reads the first digit of a PIN as a complete entry, then immediately says the PIN is wrong. The result is the same in both cases: owners are locked out of their phones.

Reports have surfacedfrom users of the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 8a and Pixel 8 Pro, along with other models in Google's Pixel lineup. The mix of newer and older phones...
