Some Gemini Users Can Now Give the Chatbot an Interactive Avatar

Google has given Gemini Live Avatars, letting businesses offer personified chat experiences to online customers. The feature is available exclusively to Enterprise users through Gemini 3.8 Live.

Live Avatar offers 2D and 3D cartoon avatars, as well as humanlike personas, that talk and express emotions in real time during verbal interactions. That's according to Google, anyway; based on the early look Google published Thursday, the emotion-expressing part doesn't feel expressive at all. The avatars support 97 languages and can switch between them mid-conversation, keeping lip movements trained to the spoken language.

According to Google, Live Avatars can keep interacting with customers while Geminiperforms background tasks, like pulling information from connected tools.
