Snap Launches Its First AR Glasses: The $2,195 Specs
Snap, the company behind Snapchat, has officially launched its long-awaited Specs AR glasses for a whopping $2,195. Preorders are available now with a $200 refundable deposit, and shipments will begin in fall 2026 in the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
Specs has fully transparent lenses with waveguide optics, which Snap claims offer a 51‑degree field of view and a 115-inch virtual display. The glasses use dual Snapdragon chips, with Snap describing one as tuned for computer vision and the other for system and graphics tasks. Motion-to-photon latency sits around 7ms to keep AR elements stable in the real world.
The frames are made from a TR90 material often used in eyeglasses and come in two sizes, roughly 47mm and 52mm, with weights of around 132g and 136g. Electrochromic lenses can turn from clear to tinted in about 10 seconds, so users can wear Specs indoors and outdoors.
