Sarvam Signs MoU with Defence Ministry for Military AI Projects

Sarvam has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), Ministry of Defence, setting up an umbrella framework for AI projects across the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force. The framework also extends to the joint, tri-service and integrated organisations under HQ IDS.
The MoU is a step in the Government’s drive towards Atmanirbharta in defence, the indigenisation of defence equipment and capability that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has placed at the centre of national security. That same imperative now extends to artificial intelligence, which is becoming as consequential to military capability as the platforms it runs on. Building that capability in India, on Indian data and Indian compute, is the need of the hour.
