SAP Plans 200 AI Agents by Year-End, Warns of 'Agentic Chaos' Without Governance
SAP plans to introduce about 200 artificial intelligence agents across business functions by the end of the year, marking a significant push toward autonomous enterprise operations as companies increasingly move beyond AI assistants and productivity tools.
The announcement was made by Manos Raptopoulos, Global President, Customer Success for Europe, APAC, Middle East and Africa at SAP, during SAP NOW AI Tour India in Mumbai, where the software major outlined its vision for what it calls the "Autonomous Enterprise," an operating model in which AI agents work across finance, procurement, supply chains, human resources and other business functions.
The planned rollout comes as technology vendors race to commercialise agentic AI, a new category of systems capable of performing tasks and making decisions with limited human intervention.
