Samsung Shifts Strategy to Software for Galaxy Ring 2; Teases Potential iOS Compatibility
Samsung has officially confirmed that the second-generation Galaxy Ring 2 is under active development. Speaking in an interview, Dr. Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team at Samsung, revealed that the company is moving away from a hardware-only focus. Instead, it plans to differentiate the upcoming wearable through advanced software capabilities, digital health experiences, and interconnected ecosystem features.
The most significant revelation comes from a strong hint regarding platform compatibility. While the original 2024 Galaxy Ring was locked exclusively to the Android ecosystem, Dr. Pak highly suggested that Samsung is exploring iPhone integration for the Galaxy Ring 2 to expand its market reach.
Rather than treating the ring as an all-in-one standalone device, Samsung envisions it as a modular health component that works seamlessly alongside smartphones, watches, and smart home appliances.
