Samsung announced its next generation of folding phones at the Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 event. The Fold 7 successor is now the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra while the all-new Galaxy Z Fold 8 shows off a shorter and wider design.
The two new Samsung book-style foldables have plenty going for them. There are subtle experiential upgrades, brighter displays, and for the first time, silicon-carbon anode batteries for bigger cell capacities in a thin design.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra remain among the most expensive phones on the market at $1,900 and $2,100 for 256GB of storage, respectively. So the question becomes which design is more useful for you?
