Although market conditions aren’t particularly favorable at this time, Samsung is launching its latest mainstream series of solid state drives today, the 990. As Samsung has historically done, the company has fleshed out its larger 990-series of SSDs with Pro, EVO, and EVO Plus models, with the new 990 dropping in somewhere in between the EVO and Pro. The Samsung 990 series is cost and efficiency optimized, and features newer NAND flash memory and tweaked and tuned firmware to optimize performance and power.
