Russian tech giant VK wants Apple to pay $696,000 every day until its apps return to the App Store

What just happened? Not for the first time, Russia is suing a US firm for a very large sum of money – though the lawsuit on this occasion comes from a company rather than its government. The $696,000 that VK wants from Apple for blocking its apps might not seem like a lot to the tech giant, but VK is asking for that amount every day. That would come to around $21 million per month, or $252 million per year.
VK, which was known as Mail.ru Group until 2021, filed the suit against Apple in a Moscow arbitration court after the US firm removed its apps from the App Store in June.
