Realme Transitioning to Oppo’s ColorOS 17 in India to Streamline Software Development

In a major consolidation within the BBK Electronics ecosystem, Realme India has confirmed that its upcoming smartphones will phase out the standalone Realme UI interface. Moving forward, the brand’s next-generation hardware launches will come equipped with Oppo’s Android 17-based ColorOS 17 operating system right out of the box.

The strategy aims to lower overall research and development expenses while combating software redundancies. By integrating their underlying engineering resources with parent company Oppo, Realme intends to offer a vastly streamlined system update process and deliver more rapid Android security patches to end-users.

Upgrade Support for Existing Handsets

The unified software migration will not be restricted exclusively to unreleased smartphones. Realme has specified that the upcoming rollout will extend retroactively to currently active models that remain eligible for major system upgrades under the company’s existing lifecycle guarantees.
