Readers Can't Agree on Tech's Most Overhyped Trend

If you were hoping our readers would decisively crown one technology the reigning champion of hype, we have bad news.
Or perhaps very interesting news.
Last week, we asked readers which tech trend is most overhyped right now. Over 2,000 (!) people voted, and the results could hardly have been closer:
- 22% voted for AI agents
- 21% voted for blockchain/Web3
- 20% voted for spatial computing
- 19% voted for humanoid robots
- 18% said none of the technologies are overhyped, they’re simply early.
That's a four-percentage-point spread covering every possible answer.
On one level, AI agents "won." On another, nobody did.
And that may tell us much more about the current state of technology than...
