Rapid PCB Prototyping Has Arrived on Your Desktop
3D printing has completely changed the way hardware is developed. Rather than sending a design to a machine shop and waiting days or weeks to see if it works, engineers can print a part at their desk, test it, make some changes, and have another version in their hands a few hours later. But that rapid iteration cycle has not yet made its way to printed circuit boards (PCBs). You can design a PCB at home, but getting something in your hands still often takes a few weeks.
PewCB One is an attempt to bring PCB prototyping closer to the 3D printing model. It is a desktop fabrication machine that uses a 20 W, 1064 nm pulsed laser to turn special copper-clad ceramic blanks into functional double-sided circuit boards. The developer of the machine says the entire design-to-test process can be completed in as little as 30 minutes.
