Internet of Things (IoT) specialist RAKwireless has announced a new edge router targeting industrial automation setups, powered by the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 or Compute Module 5 (CM4/CM5): the WisGate Connect Router.

"The WisGate Connect Router is a four-port industrial gateway for networking and edge computing applications," RAKwireless says of the boxy gadget. "Unlike typical networking solutions for the Raspberry Pi that rely on USB Ethernet adapters, it provides native multi-port Ethernet connectivity, reducing integration complexity and improving deployment consistency. The Mini-PCIe [mPCIe] slot supports LoRa concentrators and other wireless modules, while WisBlock IO and Sensor slots allow additional industrial interfaces through I2C and GPIO [General-Purpose Input/Output]."
