Speed over Form: Qualcomm is getting ready to spill the beans about the next generation of its computing products. The fabless chip designer has introduced a new, powerful CPU core architecture that's allegedly reaching unprecedented frequency rates and IPC performance for a power-constrained mobile processor.

Qualcomm is pushing its Oryon CPU up to 5GHz, which should provide a significant performance uplift on the next generation of mobile flagship devices. The company said the upcoming Oryon architecture will be the world's fastest mobile CPU, although it will require some additional silicon magic to truly shine in AI workloads and other trendy computing tasks.
