Public sector leadership is crucial for UK AI adoption, argues US giant AWS
The UK public sector is using AI at a more advanced level than the wider economy, according to new research from AWS.
Among public sector organizations that have adopted AI, almost a third have reached the most advanced stage of AI use - defined by AWS as combining multiple models, developing custom systems or deploying agentic AI - compared to just a quarter across all UK businesses.
Readiness for agentic AI is a major challenge in the UK with just four percent of those familiar with it having deployed it, while almost a third (29%) of public sector organizations say they feel fully or very ready to adopt agentic AI, well ahead of the national average.
