Pixxel Raises $100M To Expand Satellite Imaging And Manufacturing
The Bengaluru-based spacetech startup has raised $100 million in a Series C round co-led by Temasek and Seraphim, taking its total funding to $195 million. Pixxel said the round is the largest single funding round raised by a spacetech company in India.
But the more important part of the announcement is where the money is going. Pixxel plans to expand its satellite sensing capabilities, develop its Aurora Earth intelligence platform, deepen its work on sovereign space systems, and increase satellite manufacturing capacity. Taken together, those plans point to a business that wants to extend beyond building hyperspectral imaging satellites.
Moving Beyond The Satellite
Pixxel started with hyperspectral Earth observation, a technology that captures light across a large number of narrow wavelength bands. That allows satellites to identify materials and changes on Earth that may not be visible through conventional satellite imagery.
The technology has applications across agriculture, mining, oil and...
