Pixel Users Report Home Screen Animation Issue After Android 17 QPR1 Update
Pixel users are reporting a new home screen animation issue after installing the latest Android 17 QPR1 update.
Users say the home screen transition behaves incorrectly when they close an app. Instead of shrinking back to its launcher icon, the app moves to the Recents screen and slides away to the right. This usually happens when users return home from apps opened through the app drawer, not from apps launched directly on the home screen. In more severe cases, an app icon may stick to the screen when the user opens Recents from inside an app. Another report says the issue occurs after using the on-screen keyboard just before closing an app.
While most reports involve the Pixel 10 series, I spotted the same issue on my Pixel 9 Pro, but only after I started looking for it. For this reason, I don't know how long it's been happening.
