Pinetek Networks, a self-described specialist in making "smartification" simple, has launched a Hardware Attached on Top (HAT) accessory for the Raspberry Pi family of single-board computers that adds IO-Link support — and the module powering which can be removed for integration into your own device designs.

"IOL Core4 connects up to four IO-Link sensors and actuators (SDCI [Single-drop Digital Communication Interface] according to IEC 61131-9) to your system," the company explains, in translation from German, of its device. "The module is designed for integration into custom electronics. A kit comprising a Raspberry Pi, a carrier board, and the IOL Core4 is available for evaluation, enabling the creation of initial prototypes without the need for a custom PCB design."
