Peak XV Picks 18 Startups for Surge 12, Raises Investment Cap

Peak XV Partners has selected 18 startups for the 12th cohort of Surge while raising the maximum investment under its seed-stage programme from $3 million to $5 million per company.

A programme that started in 2019 as an early-stage platform for young startups. Under the revised structure, Surge can now invest between $500,000 and $5 million through equity investments, bringing it closer to Peak XV’s broader early-stage investing strategy.

The new cohort has attracted more than $90 million in seed funding, with Peak XV investing over $50 million across the group. Around half of Surge 12 comprises AI-native companies, alongside startups working in robotics, space technology, healthcare, financial services, consumer technology, and music. Rather than treating AI simply as an additional product feature, several companies in the cohort are building their businesses around AI from the start.
