Overclockers Break CPU Frequency Record With 9.2 OC of Intel 14900KF
Chinese overclocking team Wytiwx has taken the top spot in the CPU frequency world records, reaching 9.206GHz with an Intel Core i9 14900KF. Leveraging Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme and a large tank of liquid nitrogen, the team kept temperatures low enough and the chip stable enough to achieve this remarkable result.

The CPU frequency world record is one of the big ones in the overclocking space. Although entirely impractical for everyday use—just getting the system booting is the real achievement—it's the biggest number in the overclocking space, and the record has been creeping up for years, though progress has slowed dramatically recently. The first 6GHz overclock was achieved in 2005, followed by the first 7GHz overclock in 2005, and the first 8GHz overclock in 2007. But it wasn't until 2022 that we got our first 9GHz overclock.
