OpenAI's New ChatGPT Health Wants You to Connect Your Medical Records

OpenAI has made ChatGPT Health, its wellness-focused AI tool, available to all US users on free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans.

OpenAI pitches ChatGPT Health as helping users understand their lab results, enhance their sleep or physical activity, prepare questions to ask their doctors, and more. To do so, though, users are encouraged to connect their Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, One Medical, Function, or other supported medical record sources. This data purportedly helps ChatGPT Health understand recent test results and even compare health insurance options based on previous insurance use.

That's a pretty big ask, privacy-wise. OpenAIsays it keeps health data separate from model training and advertising and claims to use additional privacy controls, including "purpose-built encryption and isolation," for connected health information. Users can choose whether ChatGPT accesses connected data for each request or allow access by default. Still, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that...
