OpenAI Says Apple 'Is Getting This Wrong' In Trade Secrets Dispute
OpenAI has publicly pushed back against Apple's trade secrets allegations, publishing a detailed blog post disputing the iPhone maker's claims and defending its handling of confidential information.
The post, titled "Apple is getting this wrong," comes as Apple pursues legal action against OpenAI and two former Apple employees, Chang Liu and Tang Yew Tan, accusing them of misappropriating trade secrets linked to Apple's hardware development programme. OpenAI described Apple's lawsuit as "careless, aggressive, and oddly personal," arguing in the blog post that the company had misrepresented key facts surrounding the dispute.
In the blog, OpenAI argued that Apple's account of events is incomplete and, in some instances, inaccurate. The company said it neither possesses nor uses Apple's confidential information and maintains internal policies that prohibit employees from bringing proprietary material from previous employers into OpenAI.
