OpenAI releases GPT-6.1 Sol at a fifth of GPT-6 Astra’s token prices

OpenAI has released GPT-6.1 Sol, a cheaper model that it says nearly matches GPT-6 Astra on agentic coding, computer use and professional work. It costs a fifth of Astra’s standard input and output token prices, OpenAI said on Tuesday at its DevDay 2026 event.
The model is an upgrade to GPT-6 Sol, which OpenAI released on 22 September alongside a cheaper Luna model. The new model is available now to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex. It is not yet available in the main ChatGPT chat. Developers can use it through the API as gpt-6.1-sol.
