OpenAI Pushes Deeper Into Drug Discovery With GPT-Rosalind Upgrade

OpenAI is expanding its ambitions in life sciences with a major update to GPT-Rosalind, its specialised AI platform designed for scientific research, drug discovery, and biological analysis.

The latest release combines GPT-5.5's coding and tool-use capabilities with stronger performance in medicinal chemistry, genomics, quantitative biology, and laboratory research workflows. More importantly, it marks another step in OpenAI's effort to move beyond general-purpose AI and build systems tailored for highly specialised scientific domains.

The updated GPT-Rosalind is now available in research preview for eligible organisations through OpenAI's trusted-access deployment framework.
